Michael Nehme
Hello! My name is Michael, and I'm a first-year graduate student in Structural Engineering. I completed my bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. I joined engineering because of my passion for math and physics, and chose civil engineering because it's a field where I could create a positive impact and see my ideas come to life.
During my undergraduate studies, I worked on my final-year project testing a new structural adhesive. It was my first hands-on research experience and showed me how much there is to learn beyond the classroom, deepening my appreciation for the research side of the field. But what I value most from my bachelor's is my time as a teaching assistant. Helping others and improving course materials showed me how rewarding teaching can be, especially when you see that moment when something finally makes sense to others.
Outside of academics, I was involved with the Civil Engineering Student Association, helping organize events that built community within the program. Beyond engineering, I enjoy music, sports, and traveling. I've always loved discovering new artists, and whenever I can, I like exploring new places and finding new spots to enjoy.
