Structural Engineering M.S

Hi I am James, I was born and raised in Alameda, California! I was a transfer student from the Peralta Community College District and recent graduate of UC Berkeley with a bachelors in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Currently, I am pursuing a masters in Structural Engineering, chasing my dream since childhood with a particular passion in all things bridge related.

Since last September, this program has been profoundly knowledgeable and fulfilling. I have worked with Kyle Douglas to research sustainable concrete, utilizing recycled concrete as both aggregate and as supplementary cementitious materials to reduce embodied carbon and demolition waste. Learning everything from analysis, design and materials, I cannot wait to use the skills and experiences acquired from this program to lead and serve the communities we are a part of.

Outside of academics, I love being out and about. Either going outdoors, fishing and hiking, or zipping through the mountains in my mustang. You might see me with fellow Eagle Scouts camping or see me in the dirt planting trees with 100kTrees for Humanity. My love for steam locomotives has led to me explore the US and anywhere I travel with and by rail as much possible.
