MKA: Katie Reif

Katie Reif graduated from Stanford's SEM program in 2013 and is now working at MKA. She will be presenting about the Perelman Performing Arts Center, which opened this fall, is the last piece of the World Trade Center site redevelopment. The New York Times called it “the most glamorous civic building to land in New York in years.” The refined form of this marble clad cube hides the complex engine of structure, acoustics, and theater within. This lecture will cover the unique challenges of the project, from straddling train tracks and existing subgrade structure to accommodating the three reconfigurable theaters that can combine and adapted into at least sixty stage-audience configurations. The lecture will be followed by a lunch reception.
