Coughlin Porter Lundeen: Rebecca Hix Collins

For 23 years, Rebecca has provided inventive structural designs for new and renovation construction of a wide variety of structures constructed of concrete, steel, and wood.  Effective, appropriate solutions for structural challenges are her trademark.  She has played an integral role in the seismic design and upgrade of more than 100 projects, representing $850 million of construction for projects that range from 10,000 square feet to more than 1 million square feet throughout the Pacific Northwest.  Her extensive portfolio includes historic preservation, commercial, healthcare, education, municipal, and multi-unit residential buildings.

Rebecca will explore how we preserve historic buildings—saving our heritage while increasing safety and sustainability.  Case studies ranging from historic unreinforced masonry (URM) to high-rise, riveted, steel-framed structures will demonstrate the range of structural solutions available for seismic upgrades.
